Jo and Terry, who run this place, are the most wonderful people with the biggest hearts. Apart from running a gallery full of wonderful Aboriginal art and selling some opal jewellery (this is Coober Pedy, after all), they also run a kangaroo orphanage - but they'll take in any injured wildlife. Public feedings are at 12 noon and 5.30 pm every day, gallery opening hours depend on traffic and season. The lovely Judy also helps out with running of the gallery and caring for the joeys. There's no admittance charge but donations are very much appreciated as they don't get any government or other funding and all their money (just like any other wildlife carers in Australia) are spent on the kangaroos. Terry has an amazing knowledge of the Aboriginal art so if you want to learn a thing or three, ask him!Definitely a must if you're in Coober or just passing through!

Great experience to get to see a joey up close. They do great work looking after these orphans. We got to meet artist Tommy Crow whilst we were there and also watched him paint. We bought a piece whilst it was still wet!
These guys are just the best. The real article if indigenous art is your fancy. Tommy Long is one among many notable working artists who'll take up residency in this spaceBut what sets Josephine and Terry apart from their contemporaries is their inspirational kangaroo orphanage.
